Diffuse

What is Diffuse?

Diffuse is a code reviewer for your pull requests. It reads the change alongside the rest of your codebase, investigates what might break, and checks its findings before posting a review. The feedback arrives on GitHub, where you can read it alongside the code and decide what to do next.

The code around the change

A few changed lines can affect something several files away. Diffuse uses the surrounding repository to investigate a pull request, including the project guidance you’ve already written. It looks for problems in how the change behaves, with review passes for correctness, security, and tests.

Each review belongs to a particular version of the code. That gives you a clear reference when you’re reading a finding or coming back after another round of changes.

A second look

Diffuse uses Codex and Claude Code together. One investigates the change; the other checks the proposed findings in a separate review. You choose which takes the first pass. Findings are checked against the code and filtered for duplicates before they reach the pull request.

We want a review to give you something worth looking at: where a problem is, what could go wrong, and the evidence behind it.

Your project, your rules

Choose which repositories Diffuse reviews, which files it skips, and how serious an issue needs to be before it gets reported. You can include draft pull requests or leave them alone until they’re ready. Review settings live with the project, so the team can read and change them together.

Use automatic reviews, or ask for one when you need it by commenting @diffuse review on a pull request. Diffuse brings the findings back to GitHub. The decision about what to change and when to merge stays with you.

Run it yourself

Diffuse runs on your own infrastructure with Docker Compose. Connect GitHub, sign in to both Codex and Claude Code, and choose the repositories you want reviewed. The source and setup instructions are available in the repository, so you can inspect how it works and configure it for your team.
